History of the Museum«Siberia, Altay Region...I am sure, that among the most beautiful and original places of the Globe this land takes not the last place.The forests here are rich on wild animals, rivers- on fish, meadows – on a unique variety of flowers. The sky, almost black at night, is full of myriads of bright, sparkling stars.Winters are sever with snowstorms and blizzards, springs are fast as the mountain streams.Autumn is picturesque and generous with gifts of Altay land. Altay State Memorial Museum of Herman Titov is the unique historical and cultural object, narrating to inhabitants and guests of the Altay Region about history of development of cosmonautics, about legendary flight of the second cosmonaut of a planet Earth - Herman Stepanovich Titov, and also about life, activity and creativity of the father of the cosmonaut, the known Altay teacher, the educator – Stepan Pavlovich Titov. The museum is located in the homeland of the cosmonaut in the village Polkovnikovo, Kosikhinsky District, Altai Region, where he spent his childhood and youth. On the 6-7th August 1961 Herman Stepanovich Titov made the world's second space flight by the spaceship "Vostok-2". Herman Stepanovich became the first cosmonaut, conducted the helical long space flight. In 25 hours 18 minutes the ship made 17 rounds around the Globe, having overcome more than 700000 kilometers in space. The daily flight to space allowed to draw a conclusion: the person can live and work in space. The museum was opened to visitors in 1965. The founder of the museum is Stepan Pavlovich Titov - cosmonaut's father, teacher. On the 6th August , 2011 the museum was opened after the reconstruction made within the departmental target program "Development of the Altay State Memorial Museum of Herman Titov on 2008-2010years. " ,approved by the Administration of Altay Region on March 11, 2007 ¹ 94. Now, the museum complex includes a school building , where Herman Titov studied from 1945-1950 and the new building with exposition halls and storage facilities. In the halls of the museum are exhibited the personal things of the cosmonaut, his school writing-materials, awards, models of spaceships and equipment, cosmonauts' food,space suit of "Sokol K" and many other things. There are training L-29 plane and the spaceship lander "The Union — TMA-21" on the territory of the museum. Currently (as of 01/01/2012 year) museum fund consists of 7834 storage units, including fixed fund – 5981 units, subjects of scientific support – 1853. The museum collection has a great variaty of content,which makes it possible to tell the visitors about the life and work of H.Titov, his flight and family of the cosmonaut:
The museum is annually visited by about 20000 people, more than 700 tours, lectures are conducted for them. Guests are offered the museum excursions and thematic tours: "The Wonderful World of Space", "The Morning of the space age," "The first cosmonaut of Siberia", "Altay space", "From the spring to the stars." For school students are developed and realized museum educational programs : "A museum - to children" - for the preschool children and younger school students, ""The world through the eyes of an artist" - for the younger students, "There is the beginning of my country" - for middle and high school students. In the museum is realized Governor's program of "Aesthetic education of children and youth through Art," in which students, colleges' students, university students visit the museum free of charge. |
